Jimmy Morse

Our elders have nominated Jimmy Morse to join the One Mission elder board, and our partners will vote to affirm that nomination at the Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, September 20.

I grew up in a small town in West Virginia, where I was raised in the local church and gave my life to Christ at the age of 13. I juggled my younger years between playing soccer, working, and spending a lot of time around construction sites. That interest in building and working with my hands has stayed with me throughout my life—from my early jobs as a kid, to running framing crews as an adult, and now through the projects I enjoy as a hobby.

My faith really took root during my high school years, when I became very involved with the local Young Life community.

After graduating from West Virginia University, I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where I began my career in the Telecom/IT industry. It was there that I met Ericka, the love of my life. What started as a quick courtship has grown into nearly 25 years of marriage and a lifelong partnership.

Ericka and I spent 14 years at Forest Hill Church, where we became deeply involved in the life of the church—serving in small groups, connections, as deacons, and alongside many others as we lived life together in community.

Over time, however, we both began to sense God calling us to something different. After 16 years in Charlotte, leaving behind close friends and family, we took the opportunity to spend a few years in Denver before ultimately moving to Austin in 2019.

We have been blessed with two children, Banner and Avery, who are now in their final years at Leander High School.

I love finding ways to serve at church, whether through small groups, facilities, or local outreach. I especially value being in community and discipling the many teenagers who come through our home. I enjoy spending time with my family, working on projects around the house, playing cornhole, working out (kind of), cooking, and opening our home to host others.
